Elon Musk clashes with OpenAI’s Sam Altman over the $500 billion AI project Stargate Donald Trump announced.

Elon Musk claimed the funds are not fully secured and said SoftBank, one of the backers, only has around $10 billion available. Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, disagreed and invited Musk to visit the first site in Texas, which is already being built.

The project is called Stargate and focuses on building AI infrastructure. This includes creating data centers and using renewable energy to power the technology. Trump described the project as a big step forward for America, starting with a $100 billion investment that will eventually grow to $500 billion in 4 years time.

Musk, who supported Trump’s campaign and now is an advisor to the administration, has a long-running feud with Altman. The two have clashed over OpenAI’s leadership and its decision to move from a nonprofit to a for-profit model. Musk even filed a lawsuit, accusing OpenAI of betraying its original mission.
