Nuclear stocks climbed on Tuesday, October 6, as earnings optimism and AI demand lifted major indexes, while two nuclear-power developments sparked strong gains in electricity producers.

The S&P 500 rose about 0.6%, the Nasdaq gained 0.45% and the Dow added 0.5%. Easing bond yields and steadier oil prices also supported the advance, Reuters reported.

Two nuclear announcements lift power stocks

Constellation Energy secured a 20-year nuclear power agreement with Google, strengthening expectations that AI data centers will create lasting demand for reliable electricity.

Separately, the US Department of Energy announced a conditional loan commitment of up to $4.2 billion for Vistra to upgrade nuclear facilities.

Investor’s Business Daily reported gains of approximately 12.3% for Constellation, 10.8% for Vistra and 7% for NRG Energy during Tuesday’s trading. Vistra’s financing remains conditional, rather than money already disbursed.

Seagate falls as acquisition concerns grow

Seagate moved sharply against the broader rally, falling approximately 9.5% in afternoon trading.

Investors were weighing reports of a multibillion-dollar bidding contest with Toshiba for TDK’s magnetic-heads business, a supplier of components used in hard drives, according to StockStory.

The reported competition raised concerns about acquisition costs. It did not represent a completed purchase.
