Shares in Trump Media & Technology Group Corp (NASDAQ: DJT) soared 60% in Monday’s pre-market trading following a dramatic weekend incident where former U.S. President Donald Trump was injured in an assassination attempt during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The DJT stock, initially surging as high as 74%, could see its valuation rise from $5.87 billion to nearly $9.5 billion once the market opens. Trump, shot in the ear, raised his fist defiantly, urging the crowd to “fight” amidst the chaos. The FBI identified the shooter as Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. The incident has prompted calls for a thorough investigation into the Secret Service’s security measures at the rally.
