North Korea is reportedly forming a new hacking group, Research Center 227, under its intelligence agency, the Reconnaissance General Bureau (RGB). According to Daily NK, the unit will focus on developing offensive cyberattack technologies, including AI-driven information theft and researching Western cybersecurity systems.

The move aims to bolster North Korea’s ability to steal digital assets, following major hacks like the recent $1.4 billion Bybit theft. U.S. agencies, including the NSA and FBI, have previously accused the RGB of extensive cyber-espionage and crypto theft operations.
