The United States and Iraq are expected to announce $60 billion in commercial agreements during Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi’s visit to Washington, highlighting President Donald Trump’s push to strengthen ties through trade and investment.
According to Semafor, the deals will be unveiled at a US Chamber of Commerce summit attended by Energy Secretary Chris Wright, covering agreements between US companies and Iraqi government and private-sector partners.
The visit mirrors Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s trip last year, when billions of dollars in investment deals were announced, underscoring the Trump administration’s strategy of expanding US influence in the Middle East through commercial diplomacy.
