Albania’s Prime Minister announced a one-year ban on TikTok, citing concerns about violence and bullying among children. The decision followed a stabbing incident involving teenagers that started on social media apps and resulting the killing of a teenager last month raising fears.

Despite TikTok’s denial of any connection to the incident, the government emphasized the need to protect children from harmful content on the platform.

While some young users disagreed with the ban, parents expressed worries about the influence of social media on their children’s behaviour.

Prime Minister Rama stated that Albania would take action to safeguard its youth if TikTok fails to address the issue.
