The White House has reportedly decided to block Nvidia from selling its new scaled-down B30A AI chips to China, according to The Information.

The chip, designed for large language model training, had already been sampled by several Chinese customers. However, officials informed agencies that the product would not be approved for export, citing security concerns.

Nvidia confirmed it now holds zero market share in China’s datacenter sector and does not include it in forecasts. The company is said to be redesigning the chip in hopes the administration might reconsider.

Meanwhile, Beijing has issued new guidance requiring all state-funded data centers to use domestically made chips — effectively cutting Nvidia out of one of the world’s most lucrative AI markets.
