Trump torches peace talks, mocks Musk on live TV, and may ditch his Tesla as their once-powerful alliance burns in public view.
What started as a high-level effort to calm markets and de-escalate tensions between two of the world’s most powerful figures has officially collapsed — in spectacular, insult-laced fashion.
On Friday, US President Donald Trump publicly rejected any plan to speak with Elon Musk, calling him “the man who has lost his mind.” The comment came during a phone interview with ABC News, shattering hopes that a scheduled White House call with Musk would help repair their rapidly unravelling relationship.
“I’m not particularly interested in talking to him,” Trump added. “He wants to talk to me — but I’m not ready to talk to him.”
Furthermore, Dana Dash, Chef Political Correspondent, joined CNN with a phone call on behalf of Trump, quote.
“I’m not even thinking about Elon. He’s got a problem. The poor guy’s got a problem. I won’t be speaking to him for a while, but of course I wish him well.”
These statements come just hours after White House officials privately confirmed a Musk-Trump call had been pencilled in for Friday morning. Now, multiple aides say there are “no plans” for the conversation to happen.

Trump’s Tesla… on the chopping block?
The feud may even cost Musk something symbolic: Trump’s own Tesla.
According to a senior White House official who spoke to AFP, Trump is now “thinking about” selling or giving away the Tesla he famously bought in March to support Musk, a flashy red EV that had been parked just outside the West Wing as a prop for their political bromance.
“Taking President Trump’s Tesla out for a ride,” Trump aide Margo Martin posted just last week. That now feels like ancient history.
