According to Forbes, the US President indirectly holds an estimated $870 million in bitcoin, making him one of America’s largest private holders of the digital currency. The position comes through his ownership in Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) — the parent company of Truth Social — which began accumulating bitcoin earlier this year.
Trump’s Hidden Bitcoin Fortune
While bitcoin does not appear in Trump’s public financial disclosures, Forbes reports that TMTG acquired roughly $2 billion worth of bitcoin between May and July 2025, after raising $2.3 billion through debt and equity sales. Trump’s 41% stake in the firm translates to an indirect exposure of nearly $870 million.
The firm’s bitcoin bet marks a stunning pivot for Trump Media, which previously generated under $4 million in annual revenue before reinventing itself as a crypto-heavy holding company.
From NFTs to Bitcoin Empire
After leaving office in 2021, Trump initially dipped into crypto through NFT trading cards and his family-backed venture World Liberty Financial, which issued World Liberty Tokens and a meme coin that reportedly added over $1 billion to his net worth.
Following his 2024 re-election, bitcoin’s price surged more than 60%, helping boost TMTG’s valuation and the value of its crypto holdings.
Among the Top Crypto Billionaires
Trump’s bitcoin exposure puts him just below crypto titans like the Winklevoss twins ($8B) and Michael Saylor ($7.2B), and ahead of many institutional investors.
Despite his company’s crypto-heavy balance sheet, TMTG’s market cap has dipped by $1.2 billion since its pivot — a sign that investors remain cautious even as the company’s digital reserves grow.
