The Open Network (TON), the blockchain of Telegram, has surpassed Ethereum in daily active addresses, marking a notable shift in the cryptocurrency landscape.

Analytics firm Delphi Digital reports that TON’s daily active addresses have consistently outpaced Ethereum’s throughout June, thanks to Telegram’s 900 million users.

TON’s network activity boost is attributed to strategic initiatives, including the integration of the Tether (USDT) stablecoin and the introduction of Notcoin, a tap-to-earn token that attracted 35 million users in just five months.

Notcoin is not the only Telegram mini apps that have gone viral. More recently, Hamster Kombat announced it surpassed 100 million cumulative users.

While TON’s performance is noteworthy, it’s essential to consider Ethereum’s ongoing transition to layer 2 scaling solutions like Arbitrum, Base, and Optimism, which reported 1.3 million daily active addresses on June 11 alone.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin supports these solutions as part of Ethereum’s scaling strategy, which complicates direct comparisons with TON’s metrics.
