OpenAI has officially acquired the domain name Chat.com, significantly boosting its collection of influential online properties. The domain now redirects visitors directly to OpenAI’s flagship AI chatbot, ChatGPT.

Acquisition Details:

Domain History: Chat.com, one of the web’s older domains, was first registered in September 1996. It was recently part of a high-profile transaction where HubSpot co-founder Dharmesh Shah acquired it for $15.5 million.
Recent Sale: Shah revealed that he sold Chat.com to an unnamed buyer last year, which has now been confirmed as OpenAI. The transfer suggests a strategic move rather than a brand overhaul, as OpenAI continues to operate ChatGPT under its existing domain.
