Ken Griffin and Paul Singer, two prominent Republican billionaires known for their past criticism of Donald Trump, are reportedly in talks with the former president about potentially supporting his 2024 White House bid. Bloomberg News revealed that Elon Musk has also donated a significant amount to a Trump-focused SPAC.
Griffin, a founder of Citadel, met with Trump at his Virginia golf club, while Singer, founder of Elliott Investment Management, has also had separate meetings with Trump. This comes as Trump’s campaign gains momentum following recent contributions and perceived missteps by President Joe Biden.
Neither Griffin nor Singer has previously supported Trump’s presidential campaigns. Their financial backing could significantly boost Trump’s efforts, as both have been substantial GOP donors. Griffin has donated $233 million to federal elections since 2015, while Singer has contributed $89 million, according to OpenSecrets data.
Their decision to support Trump’s 2024 campaign remains pending, with Griffin indicating his choice will be influenced by Trump’s running mate selection.
