The US says talks with Iran could begin as soon as this week, offering a possible path toward easing tensions.
US envoy Steve Witkoff said Washington is “hopeful” negotiations will start soon, as Iran reviews a 15-point peace plan proposed by the US.
“We expect the Iranians to respond. It could solve it all,” he said.
President Donald Trump also struck an optimistic tone, telling reporters:
“They are talking, we are talking now. They want to make a deal.”
At the same time, the US continues to apply pressure, with Trump saying Iran is “being decimated,” highlighting the mixed signals coming from Washington.
Markets are watching closely, as any real progress in talks could help ease oil prices and reduce volatility. For now, however, there is still no confirmation from Iran that negotiations will take place.
